Roots flow meteris the main instrument for measuring natural gas flow, which can automatically compensate for temperature and pressure, thus ensuring high accuracy and stable performance, often used for trade settlement. It can be installed vertically or horizontally. However, in practical use, when installed horizontally, the readings are unstable, and even when there is airflow in the pipeline, the readings often remain unchanged. Why is this?

1. The internal rotor of the Roots flow meter is precisely machined, achieving the best balance state when installed vertically, with non-contact rotation and good oil lubrication, ensuring the accuracy of the flow meter remains unchanged and a long service life. However, when installed horizontally, the rotor is in an elevated position, and after the measurement is interrupted and the upstream and downstream valves are reopened, especially if opened too quickly, the gas can violently strike the rotor, easily causing blockage and resulting in measurement failure.
2.Roots flow meterBefore and after installation, a straight pipe section may not be necessary, allowing installation in narrow environments. Therefore, some customers even omit the filtering device in front of the flow meter on-site. In the case of vertical installation, even a small amount of particulate impurities or dust can easily pass through the pipe between the two rotors. In horizontal installation, these impurities or dust can accumulate in the rotor chamber; the more impurities and dust there are, the less the rotor can move, leading to rotor damage and incorrect measurement by the flow meter.
Therefore, it is best for Jin Haobo Rui Mi Co., Ltd. to use vertical installation methods whenever conditions permit. If the on-site pipeline has already been laid and vertical installation is not possible, a filtering device must be installed upstream of the flow meter.
Gas Roots (also known as rotary) flow meters are high-precision gas flow measuring instruments used to accurately measure the total amount of gas passing through a closed pipeline. They are suitable for measuring natural gas, city gas, propane, nitrogen, industrial inert gases, etc. Since the mid-20th century, the use of natural gas as one of the main energy sources in cities has rapidly increased. Among these, the Roots flow meter is the most suitable for industrial billing measurements.
The key to the gas Roots flow meter is the rotary wheel, whose end face shape can be composed of different curves. The rotary wheel formed by many arc segments in contact with each other has characteristics such as low resistance, low starting torque, and increased exhaust volume per rotation, making it easy to manufacture measuring instruments for small diameter and large flow.

To replace the bearings, the synchronous gear must first be removed, and removing the synchronous gear will change the relative position of the two wheels, making disassembly and maintenance inconvenient.
