Installation requirements and precautions for gas Roots flowmeter

GasRoots flowmeterIt is a new generation of intelligent flowmeter that integrates the functions of flow, temperature, and pressure detection systems, capable of automatically controlling compensation for working temperature and pressure. The flowmeter is based on different volume measurement principles to achieve precise control of the total amount of gas flowing through closed pipelines. Roots flowmeters are mainly used for the commercial development of gas accounting in industries such as catering and hotels in China, gas engineering measurement in distribution networks, gas measurement in pressure regulating stations, and gas measurement for industrial and civil boiler enterprises. It can also be used as a standard flowmeter for non-corrosive gases such as propane, nitrogen, and industrial inert gases.

  

Roots flowmeter


I. Installation requirements for gas Roots flowmeter

1. Uneven flow distribution and the presence of secondary flow in the pipeline are important economic factors affecting the accuracy of gas Roots flowmeter measurements. Therefore, the gas Roots flowmeter has certain requirements for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream. For industrial engineering measurements in China, companies generally require 20D straight pipe length upstream and 5D downstream. To avoid secondary flow, a rectifier needs to be installed at the upstream end. If the upstream end can ensure a straight pipe section of about 20D, along with the rectifier, the measurement accuracy of the flowmeter can reach the calibration accuracy level.

2. The gas Roots flowmeter has high cleanliness requirements for the fluid. A filter must be installed before the flowmeter to ensure the cleanliness of the fluid. The filter can be funnel-shaped, and its cleanliness can be determined by measuring the pressure difference at both ends.

II. GasRoots flowmeterInstallation precautions

1. It is strictly forbidden to weld the pipeline flange of the flowmeter online.

2. Before installing the quality flowmeter, removeimpurities from the pipeline (particular attention should be paid to impurities in the bend before the flowmeter when installed vertically) to prevent foreign objects from entering and damaging the flowmeter. The inner wall of the pipeline should be clean and free of dirt.3. The flowmeter must be reliably grounded, but must not share the ground wire with the strong electrical system.impurities from the pipeline (particular attention should be paid to impurities in the bend before the flowmeter when installed vertically) to prevent foreign objects from entering and damaging the flowmeter. The inner wall of the pipeline should be clean and free of dirt.4. Seals must not extend into the pipeline during installation, and the axis of the flowmeter's inlet and outlet must visually align with the axis of the connected pipeline without any skew.

5. When installed outdoors, it is recommended to add a protective cover to avoid soaking in rainwater and exposure to hot sunlight, which could affect the lifespan of the flowmeter.

6. After the installation work is completed, unscrew the screw plug above the synchronous gear, then insert the same hex wrench into the data synchronization gear, rotate one rotor, and check if the waist wheel rotates smoothly. If there is any jamming during rotation, please disassemble the instrument,

clean it, and then reinstall. After the waist wheel rotates smoothly, screw the plug back on.

7. There should be red and yellow warning signs on the flowmeter.impurities from the pipeline (particular attention should be paid to impurities in the bend before the flowmeter when installed vertically) to prevent foreign objects from entering and damaging the flowmeter. The inner wall of the pipeline should be clean and free of dirt.8. When the Roots flowmeter is installed horizontally, it is recommended to install a steel expansion joint (compensator) behind the flowmeter. The expansion joint must meet the requirements of the pipeline design nominal diameter and nominal pressure. (The expansion joint is used to compensate for pipeline stress, facilitating the installation and removal of the flowmeter.)

9. Before installing the Roots flowmeter in the pipeline, first check if the waist wheel can rotate flexibly.

10. The flowmeter should not be surrounded by strong external magnetic fields or strong mechanical vibrations.

11. There should be no gas that can corrode aluminum alloy at the installation site.

12. When an additional power supply or wiring is needed, it must be done according to the requirements of the corresponding calibration manual; otherwise, it may cause damage to the instrument or lead to safety management issues.
